Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Houston County Criminal History. Reading its material, opening a page, or using a search feature means that you accept the terms below. Stop using the website if you do not agree.

NO FCRA USE. Houston County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. It and its advertising partners do not offer a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The resource points readers to Tennessee criminal-record offices. It is neither a private investigator nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This private reference site is independent of every government office. It does not store official records, conduct an official check, obtain a record, or file papers for a visitor.

Its purpose is to identify Houston County custodians, including the sheriff, trial courts, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Criminal Records Unit, and Tennessee Sex Offender Registry, and to provide access to relevant outside tools. Public access remains subject to the Tennessee Public Records Act, Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 10-7-501 et seq., and TBI dissemination authority under Tenn. Code Ann. § 38-6-120.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, you agree not to:

  • Interfere with the service or another visitor's access
  • Use bots, scrapers, or automated extraction tools
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system
  • Use information to threaten, stalk, or harass a person
  • Use the content for an FCRA-regulated decision
  • Violate federal, Tennessee, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked tool may not be used to stalk, threaten, intimidate, harass, or unlawfully discriminate. Tennessee's Sex Offender Registry exists for safety awareness. Misuse against a listed person may create criminal or civil consequences; vigilantism and adverse treatment prohibited by law are not permitted.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Houston County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create consumer reports, credit reports, or background checks. Neither the operator nor an advertising partner provides a tool intended for the following:

  • Creditworthiness or lending decisions
  • Employment decisions
  • Rental or tenant screening
  • Insurance eligibility or pricing
  • Licensing, benefits, or another FCRA-regulated purpose

A lawful check for a regulated purpose must come from an authorized official process or a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The material is not legal advice and cannot apply a charge, warrant, conviction, or Tennessee expungement rule to an individual matter. Consult a licensed Tennessee attorney for legal guidance.

6. No Warranties

All services and content are supplied "as is." No promise is made that:

  • An outside search result is complete or correct
  • Every fact remains current, accurate, and complete
  • The website will always be available
  • The service contains no error, bug, or security flaw

Charges, dispositions, sealing, and expungement can change the official file. Information here may lag those events and must not be treated as a statement from a court, sheriff, or state agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may open sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-aid, or outside search services. Those destinations control their own content, availability, prices, and data practices. Their terms should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, code, graphics, and logos belong to Houston County Criminal History or its content partners. Written permission is required before copying, adapting, or distributing them.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the operator is not liable for damage arising from use of the website, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from claims, demands, actions, fees, and costs caused by your use or breach of these terms.

11. Governing Law

Tennessee law governs these terms. A dispute tied to website use must be brought in a court located in Tennessee.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised. A revision takes effect when the new version is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or ended at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the rest remain effective. The affected language will be limited only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
